HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR NEW TATTOO

Taking off the Bandage and Cleaning Your Tattoo

FIRST DAY/NIGHT

Transparent matte film adhesive bandage is a Medical-grade adhesive designed to last several days.

However, those with sensitive skin may have skin reactions to these products' films.

If in doubt, leave it on for 2- 6 hours.

  • Carefully remove the bandage and tape. If you feel the bandage sticking to the Tattoo, wet it with lukewarm water and gently slide it off.

  • You can use Tattoo Goo Antimicrobial Soap or a fragrance-free soap and warm water. Do not use washcloths, bath towels, or sponges on a fresh tattoo.

  • Rinse and gently clean the Tattoo until the skin is clean and all plasma is washed off.

  • Pat dry with a clean cloth or paper towel, then let air dry for at least 10 minutes. DO NOT SCRUB.

  • Once the Tattoo is dry, apply a minimal amount of tattoo cream and gently rub the ointment into it. Dab any excess off with a clean paper towel.

Apply a thin layer of aftercare cream.

  • There is no need to re-bandage the Tattoo, but please be mindful that it is a wound, and when unwrapped, it is prone to dirt and bacteria, which may cause infection. Avoid direct contact with pets and any surface.

WHY IS MY TATTOO OOZING FLUID?

Suppose you notice fluid oozing from the Tattoo; it is blood, plasma, and extra ink. Your skin will also be red and sore and might feel warm to the touch.

On your first night, there's a chance your Tattoo will still bleed. The blood can dry overnight and stick to your clothes or bedding. If this happens, gently soak or wet the affected area with lukewarm water and gently slide it off. Please DO NOT strip it off or be rough with it.

CAN WE GO TO THE GYM?

Yes, you can go to the Gym as long as your Tattoo is protected and will not ooze plasma or blood. It should not come in direct contact with surfaces and equipment.

YOUR DAILY TATTOO AFTERCARE ROUTINE

Apply the cream 2-3 times a day for the first 2-3 weeks
Remember, keep it light.
Once you have completed the tattoo aftercare, you may switch to your regular or fragrance-free lotion for another two weeks.

TATTOO SCABBING AND DRY SKIN

After the first few days, your Tattoo may become itchy or begin to form flaky scabs. They will fall off independently.

DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH AT YOUR TATTOO

Doing so can cause some pigment to disappear, and your Tattoo may not heal properly. Keep it moisturized, and the scabs will eventually dissipate.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR A TATTOO TO HEAL?

The outer layer of skin will typically heal within 2 to 4 weeks. While it may look and feel healed, continue applying the aftercare, as it can take as long as 3 to 6 months for the skin below a tattoo to heal truly. Remember, patience is key in this process.

Larger tattoos take longer to recover, and certain factors may slow the process, like picking at the scabs and not moisturizing.

IMPORTANT DOS AND DON'TS

  1. Clean towels, bedding and clothes are recommended during the healing process.

  2. Showering is acceptable; however, please DO NOT soak your Tattoo for at least 2 weeks.

  3. No swimming, baths or submerging your Tattoo in water for long periods.

  4. No Sunbeds

  5. Avoid direct sunlight on your Tattoo for at least 3 -4 weeks or longer for larger tattoos. This is crucial in ensuring your Tattoo heals appropriately and maintains its vibrant colours.

  6. Wear loose clothing (preferably cotton), and avoid constricting accessories like bra straps and tight waistbands over a fresh tattoo. Also, avoid dirty, sweaty, or itchy clothing, as these can create healing problems.

SUNBLOCK

After the Tattoo is fully healed, we advise applying sunscreen (minimum SPF 50) whenever you are in direct sunlight. The sun will undoubtedly damage your Tattoo and compromise its longevity.
